As a classically trained concert pianist he has given concert programs including works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy Liszt, Rachmaninov etc. Andy often improvises on classical themes and audiences are fascinated by his ability to take a suggestion from the floor of a well known tune or theme and turn it into a full blown improvised study. These impromptu compositions have ranged from pop songs, through classical themes to nursery rhymes and Christmas tunes.
Andy has a BA in music and frequently gives lecture/demonstrations on aspects of Jazz, Popular Music and Improvisation. He can give informative, educational and engaging talks on many aspects of the music he plays and writes, and this can be incorporated to a greater or lesser degree depending on the event and venue if required. ( Andy has taught/lectured at Manchester Metropolitan University, Buckinghamshire New University, Thames Valley University, The National Institute of Recording Arts, Salford University, Birmingham Conservatoire, The Institute of Electrical Engineers, Keele University, RNCM, as well as giving talks and demonstrations for both national academic events, and at prestigious venues in the commercial sector such as BBC Manchester and Central Television).
